Fleece Lined Mittens



Materials Needed:
Baptiste Lake Handspun
2 oz 100% Wool Roving
Size 3, 7 inch double pointed needles
Size 6, 7 inch double pointed needles
Tapestry Needle


Gauge:
4 sts = 1 inch stockinette sts, Size 8

Size:
Sm (Med, Lg)


1. Cast on 36 (40, 44) sts.

2. K2, P2 for 2 1/2 inches.

3. Inc 4(5, 4) sts and change to size 6 needle.

4. K one row and in the next row every 5(5, 6) sts place a piece of fleece on the needle and K it with the stitch. Repeat every 5(5, 6) rows.

5. Work for 14 rows or to base of thumb and K2.

6. Place next 6 sts on a holder and cast on 6 sts over holder.

7. Work in stockinette st while continuing to work fleece stuffing as in #4 above. Work even until 1 inch from tip. Approx 3 inches from thumb.

8. Decrease as follows:


Row 1: K

Row 2: K2, K2 tog

Row 3: K

Row 4: K1, K2 tog

Row 5: K

Row 6: K2 tog


9. Thread yarn on to tapestry needle, draw yarn through and tie off.

10. Thumb:

Pick up your 6 sts plus 8 more.

K to 1/2 inch of end and K2 tog

K one row

Draw yarn through and tie off.


11. Repeat 1 thru 10 for second mitten.
